E34 wheel/tyres help needed please.

Hi all,
I am a UK resident and have owned an E34 for the past 4 years. It's fitted with Dunlop SP Sports tyresTD230/55ZR 390's. They are close to renewal. Over here it's likely to cost me the thick end of about £600,00 sterling, in the USA about$1200. The spare is still unused from new.
For the past 2 years I have kept a full set of aluminium wheels in my shed, which were removed from a 1989 E34, which had been scrapped(sadly). The wheels could do with a good clean up and I am considering putting them onto my 1994 E34 520SE. Only to cut back on cost. Although I must admit I do like the Dunlop SP tyres.
They are coded as follows:-
BMW e20. I presume that means they originated from the 2002 Turbo diesel which was manufactured in 1973.
The numbers 1179774 7 JX 15H2 are coded thereon.
They measure 16inches in diameter and 8inches in depth.
Does anybody know if they are suitable for my model of BMW and if so what tyres are likely to match? Also is it still possible to buy the BMW wheelbadges? It would be no use without them. My BMW is still in great condition, Maldive blue and has only covered 80,000 miles, with FSH.

Tony, on the back of the wheel you will see a number with the prefix "E" or "ET". If that number is 15-20 then they should work fine assuming they are the same bolt pattern of 5x120. As for tires sizes, you have 2 choices. Either 205/65-15 or 225/60-15. Hope this helps.

for your quick replies. I have put the same request for help into a British site and was also given the same good information you folks have provided. Thanks and I now know what the various numberings all mean. I'm one of those guys who knows how to keep his autos in showroom condition, but technical stuff I'm afraid I have'nt much idea in that area.
