Hey guys, another 1990 BMW 535i problem.

The problems never stop with this hunk of junk.

When I put the automatic tranny into reverse, the car will vibrate abnormally, kind of like a vibrating pulse. Does anybody have any ideas?

Hopefully its a quick fix, because once the tranny has problems, its time to sell the hunk of junk or part the parts.

How much do you guys think I can get for this Black 1990 535i with 200K miles?

Thanks.

kinda sounds like a clutch pack is slipping, any other symptoms?

The vibration is almost as if its a slip and it vibrates.

How big/expensive is the clutch pack to replace? Or time to trash the car.

Looks pretty complicated, since it involves dropping the tranny. I guess its time to trash this hunk of trash.

Hunk of junk?!!?! :D

I'm offended.

Sell it to me -- I'll give you $400 for it if the body's in good shape.

I purchased the tin can 8-9 months ago and I have spend $2700 just in parts fixing this thing.

Everything that can go wrong with the car listed on bmwe34.net HAS broken and been replaced. Which I don't mind, but when the tranny starts having problems, its a sign to abandon ship, cause trannys = $$$.

Anyways, the sound/vibration in reverse just stopped, go figure. If it acts up again, this hunk of junk is up for sale, maybe $2k. $2K is a descent down payment on a more reliable car, like a Hyundai or Diahatsu or Kia.

you can put the extra one in the trunk for when the first one breaks.
