Basic question here. Which USA 540i e34 came from the factory with 540i brake ducts? I found the parts numbers in the ETK for a USA 95 540i. However, the front bumper for the 540i and 525i were the same!!

That means the duct/and sir channels were installed by the factory/dealer under the bumper per Winfreds example? Or does it?

I see instructions on www.bmwe34.net (http://www.bmwe34.net) site to actually cut the lower bumper panel to fit the ducts. This does not seem to be what the factory intended?

What was intended from the factory? I have never seen a 540i in a factory brochure, web photographs, or on the street with the duct installed as a factory part only owner installed

Just interested. TIA

All '94 540i's had brake ducts (unpainted), and it was an option on '95's (those that came with them were painted, as was the lower trim on all '95 E34's.

Yes, the factory used the same bumper, and cut the corner and installed the duct.

I checked my 94 5 series brochure and found on pages 4-5 a spread of a red 540i with black brake ducts. You sort of had to look close. I think it is the only front end photo the 540i in the brochure. Learn something new every day. Thank you!
