Hello everyone,

I was wondering if anyone has experienced the following. My '94 530iT with all of 78,500 on the OD did a strange thing yesterday. When I got in and turned the ignition on and attempted to put the windows down they didn't move , so I tried the sunroof as it was well above 100 degrees in the car and I just got a buzzing noise fro the motor. At that point I put the car in gear and then figured let me try the windows again. Well they worked and so did the roof. After backing up and putting the car in drive I heard this metal on metal grinding of the gears. When I got home about two miles away it sounded even worse when I changed through the gears. eventually I just shut it down and ten minites later started her up went through the gears and no noise at all. What could that have possibly have been?

By the way I had new Tranny mount installed a month ago

Thanks
Terry

Where specifically was the grinding noise coming from? Front or rear? side?

The window problem may be due to dirty contacts in the center console switches. Or what jeff said... I dont think the two problems are related, but the grinding description is a bit vague.
