540i hydro unit ?

hi there all. just new here so i hope to get it right to be where this should be. i have a '93 540i shadowline,pics soon. does anybody know about what ive been told is a hydro unit. located in the left rear top of engine bay. Its got a slow leak and im told its a sealed unit and about $3500 au to repalce from bmw. Can a tape product be put around it for now? it leaks power sterring fluid so i know its not brakes but parts sites semm to call this a hydro unit.

Might it be your power steering reservoir?

I'd check all hose connections first, as these run very close to the exhaust mnaifold and degrade rather quickly relative to the rest of the hoses.
