Some noodlehead in a Mitsu Eclipse rear ended a beloved family member today (535iM)... fortunately his bumper cracked and not mine. He left a slew of paint on the lower part of the bumper though, and the usual light scratches. Nothing seems deep... just his paint on the surface. Can I buff it off myself some how? I've seen shops come out with a rag and some type of solution before to take care of things like this. 'Course that was a white Ford Focus, and not a White BMW ;)

Hmm, well. You can most likely get it off, but with a rag and solution...that might be a different story. Do you have access to any Random Oribital or Rotoary tools? If you do, you can use some abrasive polishes to cut through the paint transfers. Some products that come to mind are Menzerna Power Gloss, Poorboys ssr3, Meguiars #83 DACP, Meguiars Scratch X, and a whole slew of other products that I can't name. My best suggestion to you is to visit www.autopia.org, post up some pictures of the damage, and get suggestions on what polishes and methods of polishing (hand, random orbital, rotary, etc) to undo the damage.
