We have a '89 VW Jetta Coupe project car, and for what its worth, the oil cap is a direct swap and seems to "click" in place better than OEM M50 one.

Edit, meant OIL cap

I was just thinking about gas caps the other day while I was at a Parts Source (owned by Canadian Tire) and I noticed that they had a replacement cap for e 34's but I didn't get it as it looked pretty cheesy, no click ring on it looked like something off a lawn mower. I had a car once that wouldn't pass an emission test until i finially put a new cap on it. Are there any noticeable signs in the way an m30 sounds or runs if the gas cap is not sealing properly?

should you hear a suction sound when removing the cap or is mine in need of maintenence?

...when you remove the gas cap...maybe you shouldn't wait so long between fill-ups! :D I think your car is trying to tell you something like..."geesh! I'm driving around on fumes how about some liquid fuel!!!" :p

Mine has the same suction sound, though I always fill it up when it droped to 1/2 of the tank. Is it normal...???

This isn't true. I don't think it has anything to do with how much gas is in the tank.
