Hi guys n girls ... there was a plan in our country to discontinue manufaturing octane 95 gas. it's still an idea here, but if that happened will our M30 engine run with it? I tried it yesterday and the prformance was alittle bad. but in noon time it was the worst. it's abvious that the mixture is extra lean. My question here is it possible to adjust the AFM to cope with the octane 98? or it needs a different chip?

I'm assuming your octane level is measured in RON. Why are they discontinuing 95 ron gas? (thats 89 aki for us in north america)...

BMW reccomends 89 aki, but I've used 87 for a while and never ever had a problem. I's probably opt for a higher octane gas though than a lower one.

Nothing needs to be adjusted for 98, but I'd just just chip it since you'll be using 98 anyways...might as well take advantage of it.

well it's true if it was adapted to use octane 98 it will deliver more power ... I'm feeling that it's choking the engine in the time being. I think it needs a slight adaptation in the timming. is that true?
