My EML light is going into limp mode periodically. Happens on the highway, typically after accelerating and then taking foot off the gas.

Last year sometime I read a procedure on how to repair the EML potentiometer on the 3.5l. It was a delicate operation but worth the risk as a replacement is very very expensive. The EML was only on later model E34 535 with ASC.

Does anyone recall where the procedure is? I seem to recall some other links on the same page for twisted seat back repair and some OBC interpretation. (Totally guessing).

Thanks much... have you ever done one of these and if so are there any particular pitfalls to watch out for?

with some colour pen. Do not know if that anchor is the right English word, but see pic number 6 on the left side the darker colour piece inside the DK.
When dissasembling mark all positions with a colour marker or whatever you have for that.
I have done 2 DK's for my V12 engine. BMW Japan wanted to have 4.500 US$ for 2 new DK's :(
So instead of that I bought 2 used ones from a parts V12 for 250 $ total cost and completely disassembled them and overhauled them.
But not yet installed as the old ones are still going strong.
Just a preparation for day X when I need them :D

I was wondering how they sync'd the two throttle bodies.

That beats a flow meter and a screw drive by a mile.

You have to synchronize the 2 DK's quite often. Even after you made a reset.
But that is much, much easier than on the old style carburators. I had 2 Weber double carburators on my 2002 a long time ago when I was young. Modified cylinder head, intake system, exhaust system abd other goodies. Terrible fast for that time in 1975-1980. But it was a horror to sync the Weber carb's.
Here is the instruction for sync DK's from my website

My girlfriend is from Japan and is in Tokyo as I type this. Where are you located there? I've been a couple of times...
