Can anyone enlighten me as to whether or not the NIKASIL problem occurs in V8s in OZ ?
I have searched the forums and found a comment by Paul in NZ saying it wasn't a problem here or across the ditch in NZ, according to a BMW dealer .
If not, how does Australian and New Zealand petrol compare with countries where the problem does occur ?
Is it only to do with sulphur content of fuels ?
Anyone with a V8 in Oz with personal experience ?
A friend of mine is contemplating joining the fold and so I thought it prudent to ask the experts - you lot ! :D
Any info welcome.
Thanks.

As the owner of 3 V8 E34's (not all at once) and having done a lot of research on this issue, I can say that Nikasil issues were basically non-existent in Australia. This is because of the low sulphur content in Australian fuel.

That said, I understand in a few very rare cases, it did rear its ugly head, but we are talking one in thousands.

Cheers

I live in the UK and have a 530 which I believe has nikasil bores. Is the problem prevalent over here?

As usual, thanks for the info - much as I suspected.
Will let you know if he joins the fold.
