This is quite an interesting photo story from Stefan in Germany. He owns a 735i in basic design without most of the optional extras. He got hold of a donor 735iA with almost full options, such as heated electric leather seats, aircon, double glass windows, automatic transmission, an engine with less mileage and other goodies.
Conversion is almost finished and car should be on the road on Friday again.
If you have any plans to do such modifications or vice versa, I suggest you download the pictures. So far in total 56 pics.

That's a hell of an ambitious project!

What's more amazing to me is that he's even replacing the wiring harnesses (or at least it seems that way)...that's like building the car from scratch.

Looks like his old one was a manual to begin with.

Yes, it was a manual. And it was almost without any of the options. In Germany even the aircon was an option. I found even some 7 series with manual windows instead of electric windows.
So the best was to strip the whole car and install also the wire looms from the donor car.

Very cool stuff. I take it the red spray paint was some kind of rust proofing agent? thats a pretty good idea- spraying down everything you can while its apart.I kind of want to disasemble my dash and overhaul the aircon system... looks pretty easy! i like how it went back together, in all of 6 pictures like it simply clicked back like legos.

Interesting pictures. Yeah, I also realised that german cars can be as "bare-bones" as they wanted. I guess is to lower the price of entry or pure german choice.

I got this German model 95 Touring which does not even have fog light wiring!!!. There appears to be a round 5 pin connector somewhere that will need to plug into the fog wiring harness that has 5 pin conn make split into two double pin connectors for each fog light.

Shogun, would appreciate if you can tell me WHERE the heck if that 5 pin fog connector located ?. If I can find it, I can wire the rest myself and change the fog light switch, then my poor fogs will light!.

If so, I do not know about this 5 pin connector. both wires (RH/LH) come from LKM X12 connector pins 16 (Yellow/Red wire) and 32 (Yellow/Brown wire) to the fog lamps, and from there to ground (front fogs I mean).

Some European models do not have LKM. See link:
