I pretty sure I need to adjust out the play in the steering (I've George's article) but I don't know where to find the adjuster on the steering box. Will it be obvious when I jack the car up? Can I get to it without jacking the car up?

Cheers,

You can easily get to it without jacking the car up - no need to do that at all as you access it through the engine compartment.

You might try tightening up the 32mm nut under the dash before you mess around with the steering box, however.

I've found the steering box easy enough, I've found one nut on the heat shield above it but can't get at whatever else is holding the heat shield in place. I suppose the adjuster is on the top of the steering box facing the sky, hidden by the heat shield.

Am I the only one with a heat shield? Alluminium thing above the steering box.

Tighten the 32mm offender already.
