Hey guys,

On my way home last night I pushed forward the turn signal stalk to turn on my high beams. They never went on. However, when I pulled the stalk toward me (flash function) they did flash and would remain on as long as I held the stalk back. My question is: is the problem in the switch on the turn signal stalk or is it in the LKM?

Thanks in advance for your input.

Gordo.

Had this trouble with my old E28 535i. (it has the same stalk).

Symptoms were affected by temperature, and got worse.

I changed the stalk and everything was fine... but the LKM pulls out easy enough... re-soldering the contacts is easy just in case they are at fault. Try swapping the relay also, but I doubt that since they work on full-on (same goes for the LKM really)

If it turns out to be the stalk, I happen to have one for sale ;)

Check the relays. That happened to me before... except my lows and highs died. Fogs work (and my fogs only work when low-beam is engaged)

Pulling on the stalk to flash worked my highs... but pushing to engage didn't work.

A wire was changed and one relay... can't remember which one, the shop blew quite a number of fuses finding the sneak circuit though (I think they went through 4 or 5) before they found it.

Hey Geak,

What do you want for the stalk?
