I get a series of 3 chimes while i'm driving, but nothing seems to be wrong with the car, the bars on the screen have gone down by 1, is it just telling me that it's getting close to service time?
Thanks in advance for any advise. Jim
P.S. how do I put a pic in here?

just before the hour, watch and see if it does it again what time it is.

I feel better now, I wasn't sure what was going on. Now all I have to do is figure out how to turn the chimes off. again thanks for the info.

you won't have to wait for 15 seconds before the hour to determine if you have it set...the icon appears on the right side of the OBC's display. You can see it in the pic below (its from my e38...the display is different but the icon is the same) to the right of the MLS ...it looks like a little Xmas tree turned on its side:

To turn it off or on...push the OBC's HOUR/DATE until the current time appears in the display...then press the S/R button...this will either turn the icon off or on...if the icon appears...the 3 beeps will be heard about 15 seconds before each hour...in Europe, this reminds drivers to turn the radio on to catch the hourly news updates.

This info is in your owners manual :D
Start at the 9th line down in the far right box for the Time/Date for owners manual instructions for the MEMO function: http://luuk.xs4all.nl/bmwboeken/bmwe34manual/pg46.jpg
