Hey guys, I installed a 525 fuel pump into my 535i. Everything seems to be working okay.

However, I did notice that the 525 fuel pump looked a bit different than my original 535i fuel pump. The 535i fuel pump was an aluminum canister. The 525 fuel pump is smaller and has plastic components.

Due to the difference in engine displacement, i was wondering if using the 525 fuel pump will decrease the performance.

Currently, I am cautious to gun the pedal when making left turns in front of oncoming traffic, I don't trust it unless i can get confirmation that there are no performance issues.

Thanks.

uhhh...

Why not get the 535i pump for your car? The pumps are different - not sure in what capacity but they carry different part numbers.

Pressure at a standoff start should be similar, its the long run long range draw that can be affected. Like Derek says get the right pump but as for a standing start ther should be NO difference.

What is the long run long range draw? Sorry.

The salvage yard only had a 525.
Cost for the pump = $100
Cost for the pump from parts Plus = $369

Thus I cheaped out for the used part.

find the part number in the ETK, then search from BMA etc or google it and see what they go for. I never pay full price.
