I had a defective display (Blotched LCD) on my 11-button OBC in my 90 535ia, I won another 11 button OBC off e-bay, looked EXACTLY the same as the one I took out and the replacement fit into the car no problem.....I was all pumped as right away the display on my new one was crisp, well light...looked great, I took some time set time/date etc.....
Drove the car, then I realized that I could only switch between date/time on the DASH display (beside odometer) versus being able to scroll through TEMP, RANGE, etc.....
I put my old OBC back in and sure enough I can scroll TEMP and RANGE on the dash again....
Why would the other OBC that is exactly the same not allow me to display that info on the dash cluster??? Any Ideas?? :(

what you will and what you won't see in the cluster dysplay.

See owners manual.

Did you ever get this worked out? My OBC has a corned lit up and I was thinking of buying one on eBay. Maybe I'll just black out the corner.

Maybe you have one for the E32. By the way, it is possible to repair these 'pixel' probs and on my page the is a very good link to Jon Evans, who says you can even change the color. It is not the bulbs, see here, 3 parts OBC repair

There are 2 BC's looking alike. One has a built in code plug, the other one gets the data from the dashboard code plug. There is a 67 pages description about installing BC's on E34, the different versions, cable looms etc on the German e34 net under Schrauberecke>Tipps and Tricks
http://www.e34.de/frames.php
On page 41 there are the 2 different versions shown.
Something for Javier ;-)
