Hi

Can anyone describe the circuit involved for the reverse/back up circuit? My rear reverse light don't work at all, I have checked the fuse (its ok and there is 12 volts there) and checked the bulbs and condition of the boot hinge wiring (its ok), my next step is to check the switch.

I would be very grateful if someone can provide me with a diagram of the circuit or just describe how it works so to assist me with the fault finding.

Thanks

Back up switch is in the center console (range switch) for auto, an at the gear box in manual.

Thanks guys, looks like it may be the switch as there is power at the fuse. I think I will leave it to the next inspection and they can get the car in the air to check the switch. Seems simple enough its just difficult to get to the switch (manual transmission) when you dont have access to a lift.
But thanks all the same because now I understand the circuit.

without going under the car. Below the center console, around the shifting knob, are the wires to the switch with a plugging connector, so it is easy to unplug and check continuity there when engaging reverse, or bypassing the switch to see the lights turning on.

At least you will know if switch is not working fine and ask for replacement in your next service, or realize switch is ok and problem is somewhere else.
