=:-o

First pic is the result of wrestling with glove box, ducting, access covers, a'c evaporator cover, sword, then the filter...whew!

Second pic is what the old filter looked like beside the new filter...mmmm, fresh air coming up...I don't even want to think about what is growing on the old one!

Third and fourth pics were of the a/c controller, although when I took the cover off, the controller didn't look like the sword I'm used to, nor was there any trace of the little resister pack that the ETK says was the alternate late-model version of the sword. Is this an in-between sword/resistor pack thing, or did some vehicles (late model/95 540i's, etc...) have yet another different controller? I'm wondering, because I occasionally get a 2-3 speed slow-down for a bit then return to normal ops.

Cheers,
Duey

Congrats! A real PITA the first time around, but you get used to it. I learned all about adjusting the glovebox in the process.
The biggest difference I noticed after the filer change was that REAL honest to goodness airflow was restored to the HVAC system. After the third time around, I am now thinking about leaving the filter out alltogether next time. I wonder what the cons on that are?

cons are your car will be dusty everywhere, when was the last time you had to wipe the dash off? second is youll breath all that crap and third it could build that crap up on yout heatercore/evaporator?

flow was average, nothing great, but the left side was 5 degrees warmer than the right out the center and side vents, so a few months ago the fan blower motor crapped out. When I pulled it out, I could see the nearly clogged heater core. Changed the motor after brushing the furr out of the core, then per Bill R. used air cond foam cleaner by BG products ordered-in by NAPA, and I have freezing cold gale force wind out the vents and the temp is balanced!! I wonder if you micro filter boys have clean heater cores??
Now, you must be curious aren't you? Let your air conditioner be all it can be!

almost every thing. The evaporator cover does not need to be removed to change filter, also pictures 2 and 3 are for the A/C control. It is located just between the Micro filter/evaporator enclosure and the wall carpet, Isn't it? I do mot disconnect it normally, just unclip and pull out to get access to the micro-filter door.

Of course. Not a bright idea. I guess that's why I chickened out and put one in every time so far.

If your air flow is low, look for a blocked/dirty heater core.

Duey likes to go farther than any man needs to go, keeps him sharp. If he does it the simple way he wont get the results of that black on white comparison cause he would tackle it more often.

Your car does not have a cabin microfilter.
