Is changing the color temperature simply a matter of changing the bulb or are different ballasts needed for different color temperatures?

I have seen a ballast that can do it all depending on the dial setting... but I think the bulb is a 4300K and then dimmed to achieve other color.

The "K" value is basically different colors of the light spectrum. The heaver the value the more the actual bulb costs.

the lower the K value the whiter the bulb. Lower than 4000K you start getting into yellow incadesent. (stock is about 550 if I remember right. very low).

The stock bulb puts out 65 watts. The HID is 35 watts. So the strain is 1/2 or more less than stock. The juice needed to fire the ballast is less than 7/10ths of 1 second. Your started uses more and longer. In fact so does your horn in comparisson.

So as plug and play as you can get. Minor cost for tape, zip ties or however you choose to secure the ballast. YOUR time to do it. EASY. I think you probably have done more difficult things like change the oil.
