i wouldn't ask here, but its 11:30 and my friends in a bit of a jam. the car model (an rx-7, '86) probably isn't all that important but maybe it'll help. his clutch is sticking so badly he cant drive the car, period. it won't go into gear at all, and sometimes it dies all on its own. he'll push the clutch down and it'll just sit there.... stuck down.. then die, without the pedal moving at all. he has to use his foot to phsycailly pop to clutch back up off the floor, but then its a matter of catch that it acutally engages... any ideas? master cylinder gone bad? i'd hazard a guess that we're pretty certain the clutch is good, its got fluid.. i dunno. the transmission is good.

heh, thanks for any help... its sure a petty car, and the engine is so damn cool..

If your clutch won't disengage at all the pressure plate may have gone out. The spring mechanism breaks and the clutch wont release. Does it make any abnormal noises?

that or the hydralics have crapped, i don't do a master and not do the slave cylinder too, they are usually in about the same condition
