air filters

i have an run around 525 with an m20 engine,

whats your thoughts on k&N air filters?
they give you anything?

I my opinion it gives only more sound but no or little effect on HP. In the worst case it will be less HP, if you are not installing a "cold" inlet hose/pipe to the front of the car, so that no hot/warm air from the engine room is sucked in.
