I’m glad someone finally said it. The democrats are so determined to get one of their own in office they are willing to sacrifice the well being and safety of the entire world to do so. Does this seem wrong to anyone else or is it just me?
if that's why we went there. liberating a country from tyranny, as noble as it is, is not the reason we sent in troops. it ended up being a convenient reason for being there.
funny how terrorism did not stop. we lost hundreds of americans and thousands of iraqis for what? we spent billions on this show. how long do you think it will be before osama does something else? we didn't get him.
don't get snowed by this president. liberation was not the point. while i am ever thankful for what our troops did (i think we should help more of these places) and i think they continue to do a fantastic job, they did not go there for that reason.

Ask the families of these people how they feel about the war, not to mention countless innocent people on both sides.

In my opinion, war should be a last resort. We could have kept the UN inspectors there longer and continued to enforce the no fly zones, that would have been cheaper in the long run and would have caused less flack from other countries. Now we are in Iraq with no real roadmap to get out or to get a replacement govt in there. The way I have read the international community is that the US is almost viewed as an occupying force.
But politics is a dirty game, only bits and pieces are revealed to the outsiders. No one other than the insiders have a clue of what is the end game.
Since this board does get some international visitors, I would like to know what peoples opinions are outside the USA. How do you view the over throw of Iraqi govt and the current occupation.

It is always nice hearing from a couple liberals dead set against seeing republicans succeed. All your conspiracy theories are interesting but they simply do not have any solid proof behind them, they are based upon speculation. Bush ousted Saddam Hussein because he was a threat to the world. If you don’t believe that then you are looking for reasons to not support Bush. Sometimes you need to realize that you don’t know everything going on. President Bush knows more about the terrorists and Iraq than we ever will yet you seem to have all the answers. As for terrorism not stopping, it never will, so stop being idealistic and start being realistic. Terrorism certainly has slowed down and that is due to Bush saying enough is enough. Al-Quaida can’t even find enough volunteers in Iraq to warrant staying there. A letter intercepted by an Al-Quaida member said that they were losing Iraq and should move to another country because they have no support. It is unfortunate that war was a result but to think that the UN could have done something about Saddam’s tyranny is not realistic. It is also unfortunate that anyone’s life must end because of this war but try and look at all the lives that have begun. Iraqi citizens cheer the troops on because they finally have civil rights. They no longer have to worry about Saddam using them to test biological weapons on or be killed for simply disagreeing with their leader. Their lives had not begun until Saddam was gone, so for every life ended 10000 have started.
because the reality of the past couple of months indicates that saddam was not the danger that bush made him out to be. we have found no weapons of mass destruction. the ties to osama are tenuous at best. very much like the information that the UN and weapons inspectors have been telling us for about 10 years. bush's own people are saying it.
my point comes down to this: why iraq? we know iran has nuclear capability. we know pakistan not only has weapons, but serious ties to terrorism. and now we know that they are willing to give that information away to the highest bidder. we know that north korea is well on their way. they advertise it.
what do we do about them? why iraq? this has nothing to do with being a liberal. it has everything to do with questioning my government. if something comes up that proves me wrong, fantastic. until then, i will continue to question this man (or anyone else in that office) and their propensity to throw troops around.

fact of the matter is.. you people will critize this president no matter what.. you probably didnt say dick when clinton went into Iraq.. but now he doesnt have weapons.. we know he had weapons.. he did not comply with the 15 UN RESOLUTIONS! 1441 gave him another chance.. he didnt take it.. Saddam picked his fate.. 1441 says great consequences will be paid for non-compliance.. you think that should be.. More inspectors to be given the run around? thats wonderful.. maybe you might not be from USA.. but i am.. AND I HAVE NOT FORGOTTEN SEPTEMBER 11th... maybe you have.. or maybe you think that is something else and Saddam has nothing to do with it.. maybe so.. what is for sure is that more people died on 9-11 then in Pearl Harbor.. but you all have forgotten that..
Terrorist would love to strike us again.. they havent because of this president.. We went into Iraq... APPROVED BY THE SENATE!!!! You aint talking bad about Kerry who voted for it? Why this double standard.. Main issue is we havent been attacked again.. instead of coming after us here.. they try to attack us over there.. and they are failing.. and will not win.. these soldiers may die.. that is their job.. they knew the risks.. i am thankful for their HONORABLE service to this country and the country of Iraq..
If bush went into North Korea.. your panties would be all up in your ass... thats just the type of people you are.. same as with any place else.. put the fuckin polictics aside and think of the innocent US citizens.. stop playing politics with the safety of our nation.
Nations that you mentioned will be dealt with.. and i bet that eats you up inside.. HOW DARE A REPUBLICAN DO GOOD!!..
Saddam was every bit the danger that he was.. he murdered his own people.. gassed them.. tortured them.. they are given the same right we have been given by GOD.. the right to not be murdered, tortured, burned.. THE RIGHT TO LIVE!
I say.. take off your diaper.. and be a damn American for a change.. babies!

"Just goes to show", as I 've heard Tim Russert observe on more than one occasion, "how divided the country is at this time in our history."
... and by the way, I take exception to being called un-American for critizing that lying, sob, Bush. That's as American as apple pie,
