    Default Hard drives..

What are ya'll using for drives? I have (4) 80Gb WD8mb cache drives...3 year warranty...and I've had 2 fail in the last month. 1 failed mid March, the replacement just arrived (WD sent it via turtle). The other started to head south today. Thank God for 3 year warranties.

Jeff, I found a 386 if you want a new PC.

I have warrantied WD, IBM/Hitach and Maxtor. I have recently started using Seagate again. Will see how they hold up.

    I'm running 4 x 40GB Maxtor DiamondMax 2MB-cache drives in a Highpoint372 Raid 0/1 array. Bullet proof for 2 1/2 years running W2K Pro...

Yup. I have enough fans in this case to allow it to hover off the ground if it wanted to, heating has never been an issue for me.

The drive I just received from RMA shit itself last night. I was playing a game when I received a popup telling me a file was corrupt. Bailed on the same, told the box to run chkdsk on all drives when it rebooted, it's hanging up. I guess I'll go back to IBM drives. WDC sends me a recert'd drive again and I'll see they're blackballed from this place.

35 minutes until a meeting that decides my future.

    Default i'm happy with wd.....

i have been selling them in workstations for my commercial business clients for 6 years. very good success rate. i replace a lot of seagate & maxtor ide drives. when it comes to ata or sata wd is my choose, but with scsi i use seagate with plenty of cooling. antec make some nice cases with efficiant cooling.

Here's the bad-boy. One day I'll have a few of these stuffed into a fibre-channel RAID-5 array so that stuff gets stored faster than I can think about storing it!
