9 folks died today. I think it's time to let the carpet bombs fly.
it's funny how all of a sudden they sound concerned about this, how many people have lost their lives since this crap began? Now they put it all over the place so the US sheep will get outraged and want some action, this should have been taken care of as needed to get respect or we should get our tails between our leggs and get out.
on another note, with all the political bashing going on, this and OPEK are another distraction from whats going on in our own country. more imports, weaker dollar, did you know your US paper today is worth 75% of what it was in 2002?
spend...print...spend too bad i cant do that at my shop.
my first political post...be easy.

Excuse me if I don't lose sleep if 9 or 10 $275K a year mercenaries bite the big one, regardless of whether or not they are American. The town is too rough for the 3ID (IE there are no US soldiers on patrol there, its too dangerous) to patrol, the financial reward was supposed to outweigh the risk. The dead soldier count passed 600 either yesterday or the day before, yet your talk radio talking points (hmmmm, bring up Faluj, after savage weiner, boorz, and the rest of the a-holes express their righteous indignation) don't seem to be able to give a shit about them, they are the ones that actually have a job to do there.
doesn't bother to register on this board has to say. However, in this case this person doesn't have a clue about the situation.
While I do understand, and agree a tiny bit, with the general sentiment you state, 5 of the Americans that died yesterday were soldiers. They also happened to be soldiers that were all stationed at Ft. Riley, Kansas, which is 15 miles from my home. If you want to make outrageous statements for effect, or whatever, at least try and get the basic facts correct.

Blackwood is a mercenary provider, read the CVs of its staff, pay for these type of personnel begins around 200k
these are the soldiers you refer to, and the article goes so far as to be ambiguous as to where the attack took place, the best is NW of fallujah

If anyone gets dragged out of their vehicle and killed, better them than a grunt....The grunts have been suffering thru this since November, the three or four a day pace, and nobody gave a shit. Security personnel get killed, and everybody wants to bomb mecca.

Mercenaries or not, these guys were still Americans with families, and I'm curious of the "read" you're getting from being in such a close proximity to the Ft. in Kansas where the 5 soldiers were from. Is it more "God and Country, that's the price of freedom", or is it beginning to turn to more "disgust and mistrust"?

1990 535i 5-sp., except for 16" M-Contours, cd deck, and clear corners, completely stock. 226k and running strong
I remember watching the body count on TV. I remember then opening the monument in DC, I had to push a friend of my dad's in his wheelchair. Scared the shit out of me, I cried the whole time. The message was "never forget".
It doesn't matter if they were bodies for hire or not. Lots of those jobs are paying big salaries, even some of the bottom of the line tasks are paying 100k+. I've applied for a position involving utilities that would pay me very nicely for 6 months of my time. Would it matter if I were to get gunned down and burned? Or an aide worker? Anytime an American dies on foreign soil we should get pissed.
Here is an article which tells the real reason we invaded Irak http://www.atimes.com/atimes/Front_Page/FC31Aa01.html

any direct read of the feelings at Ft. Riley, KS where these 5 soldiers were stationed. They have sent many soldiers to Iraq and have lost 35 of them so far. Most of the military go to a town, Junction City, KS, that is on the edge of the post for their entertainment, etc. The ones that do live or come to my home town I have little contact with, anymore. I did have a lot more in common with that life prior to and subsequent to my military time in SE Asia.
I am as curious as you are as to the feelings of those affiliated with the military base. I suspect they run the entire gamut from anti-war to total agreement of the activities in Iraq. That certainly was what I ran into from those that I served with in the late 1960's. Just because people were in the military or were families of those that were serving, didn't mean that they all agreed with what our country was doing.
Sorry that I don't have any better feeling about this.
