I bought a fresh M30 for my car and this transmission came with it. It's sitting around the shop and needs to be put to use.
It came out of an '88 735i, which means that it has the late E7 8 pin connector and will, out of the box, fit all E34 and E32 M30 cars with that harness connector. Count the number of pins on your tranny's connector to confirm fitment. The 7 pin harness from a later 535 or 735 trans should swap directly into this unit with little work; I don't believe any internal solenoids changed.
I didn't drive the car prior to it being dismantled, but I was told that it shifted well and the tranny's condition seems indicative of that statement. The fluid looked and smelled fine. It is original to the car, although it may have had a rebuild (I don't know); the car had 140k on it when parted. The unit is currently drained. I would be using this transmission myself, but I own a ZF remanufactured unit with a 2 year unlimited mileage warranty.
Although I cannot guarantee this unit, I'm certain that there's a lot of use left in it. The first $400 + shipping (or pickup at Koala Motorsport, 20 miles east of Cleveland, Ohio) takes it away. I will consider installing it, as well, for an additional fee.
I can bead blast the sump and replace the filter kit for an additional $30. Trans cooler lines are also available for this unit.
A stunningly good deal when one considers that the ZF reman costs $2500 installed.
