Car is located in Los Angeles and has been in SoCal for almost 5 years.
No trades.I'm getting an M Coupe so I don't have room/need for anything else.
It is original Nikasil block, but the motor is strong and if a Nikasil engine hasn't failed yet it won't in the future as the high-sulfur content that caused the problems changed years ago...check Koala Motorsport's oft-cited and now updated article on the Nikasil problems.

Hi Nick,
That looks like a sweet ride. I am in the market for a manual trans E34 and not too far away in Santa Barbara. Couple quick questions:
- Why haven't you registered it in CA? No 50 state emmisions? Will it pass smog?
- With the tight suspension, how is the freeway ride noise level? I don't mind a few bumps in the ride, but I want a nice quiet car. Any sqeeks or rattles?
Thanks for any info.
-Burt
Burt,
I have not registered because my insurance is cheaper with IL registration. I always smog the car and it is amazing how clean it runs...well beyond the standards required by CA.
I would be lying if I said the car didn't have squeeks and tut-tut noises with the suspension. It's pretty quiet on the highway though. However, if you're looking for a very quiet car then this probably isn't for you.
The car is on ebay now, just search 1995 540i six speed. Lots of hits, watchers and someone has already made me an offer to end the auction early, but we'll see if he puts his money where his mouth is.
Man i wish you would trade for my '98 540i 6-spd.

bimmerdood, I'm sure your car is worth more than mine...
Anyway, my 540i is sold. Local buyer which is a good thing as I might some day want to get it back.
Congrats on selling your car.Originally Posted by NickT
