Default That looks like the later (>93?) one. Mtech2 wheel will fit a '90 5er.

Default think there was a steering column change in 1990

pertaining to the M5, somewhere between 6/90 & 9/90, the steering column was changed to the telescopic version, in which the e36 steering wheel fits. M5's with production dates prior to 6/90, could use the older e28, e30 steering wheels. I don't know if this applies to the 535's.

theres two different style wheel mountings, a 22mm nut 89-90 e34 e32 e30 e28..... old stuff, the newer style is a bolt i think it's a 18mm i could be wrong 91 and on e34 e36 not sure what else. you can't go from one type to the other without swapping the column, when getting rid of the airbag on a 22mm nut car you need a spacer between the wheel and nut because the splines are longer, i use the spacer that came from under the wheel from the donor car but you can stack washers, here's what it looks like

    Default Probably not.

Almost sure that you need the early MTechII of an e30/e28. The one the others showed. Notice how the side spokes have parallel sides, the one you are looking at, the spokes taper.
Mr Wong has a bead on the production date switch.
    Here they in comparison.

This is the one you will probably need.

    This is the later one.

Unfortunatly if your build date does not clear this up, your only other choice will be to pull the airbag and check for the nut vs. bolt. But then you will know for sure.
Disconnect your battery, wait a bit and you will need a #30 torx for the bag.

Soooo worth it both in cost and effort tho.

Default Does anyone know if European E34 came with.....

Sport 3 spoke steering wheels that have air bag? Not M-Tech II, just the sport.

    Thanks
