Need more power!!!

What should I do, my 89 525i w/ 282k is not satisfying my need for speed I want either to swap the motor/tranny or get a turbo, I would rather swap the engine. I want around 250-300hp what would be my best option? any advice is appreciated.

sell the 525 buy a 540 and install a chip and bam 300hp, it will last MUCH longer, and cost less then almost doubling the power output of a 525, to only frag the tranny a few months later

Im with you, stick with the six, it would be cheaper to find a 535i and turbo that, then it would be to try and get that much out of the m20. Eaither way if your gonna stay with the six itll cost alot more to give it alot of power. But it has been done and the results are worth it

540i + E.A.T. chip = :supergrin (especially with a 6-sp)

A supercharger is easier to install, and depending on boost level (up to 7psi) will give 300bhp without engine mods.
