Rear tire wear... Way tooo much..

Is this normal? or can I correct it?

The rear tires on my "94 530i seem to wear at about twice the rate of my front ones. They wear evenly accross the tread and they are flat, not cupped. However the tread life is really low.

I haven't noticed this before with other tires. I'm now running Continental ContiTouring CH95's. Had Michelins before.

Could this be some sort of bushing wear? I've done the dogbones and the sub-frame mounts.

    Opinions please...

Have you recently weighed your right foot ? I seem to have the same problem. I burn through a set of tires in about 15,000 miles.

I've noticed drifting has really worn down the old Dunlops pretty quick! Man, I just can't help it...to many opportunities.

Default I don't know about that...

but aside from noise, Dunlop tires are among the best. The most recent tire test done by Consumers Reports tested 18 H rated all season tires. Most Dunlops rated mid pack at number 9. They rated everything at good except noise which was rated at fair. I'm thinking about purchasing the 8000 series.

He He my first post on the new board!!!

I think I remember reading thier review but don't believe it was a long term test. Maybe I'm wrong.

I would seriously look at tirerack's feedback about dunlop's on heavier cars like ours. Look at what people say after 10-20K miles ,that should steer you away from them.

Believe me it's not just a little noise. I have a set with only 20K miles on them and the noise drives me nuts. It started around 12K miles and has gottem progressively worse. All 4 are cupped badly even though I was religious about rotating/ balancing. I even blasphemed by bringing my baby to the local Ford stealership because they have the only hunter wheel balancer around my neck of the woods. Didn't help. It's no fun spending a small fortune on your suspension/ streeting trying to get it all sorted out correctly and then having a set of tires not let you enjoy it.

Oh and at 20K the treadlife is pretty much shot with no track time or aggressive driving (well maybe a little )

Default I had the Dunlop D-60s...

They were plenty noisy, but they gripped well. However, I would have given some of the grip for twice the life. They didn't last a year and that's with little aggressive dirving. I'll never buy Dunlop again.

Default So what is the hot tire for e34's these days

I have run Michelin Pilots and two sets of Dunlop SP Sport 5000s. They seemed to grind down in about the same amount of time. I am hard on tires, but its cheaper than a shrink !

What about Yoko AVS ? Conti CH95 ? BFGoodrick VR4 T/A? They are all in the $60-$80 price range.
