First time on the new board - wondering how/where we can see the posts from yesterday regaring the Flex-Disc replacement... Is it still out here or can anyone answer whether this was an easy-in, easy-out replacement or do I have to work the driveshaft coupling back to get the disk in/out???
Thx.

See Bruno's site under tranny.
I had to drop the exhaust to do this. If you have help, don't separate that cats from the rear section. It makes thing heavier and harder to handle, so get a friend to help if possible. If not, remove the cats, then the rear section. Spray all the fittings with PB Blaster first to aid removal of nuts and bolts.
Remove heat shield.
Make alignment marks on drive shaft to note how everything is aligned.
You will have to disconnect the six bolts holding the front of the drive shaft to the rear flange on the tranny, then disconnect the back six bolts that hold the rear of the shaft to the rear diff (be sure you noted the alignment). Next, disconnect the two bolts that hold the center bearing to the bottom of the car. Now, slowly lower the center of the drive shaft. The rear should come out of the flange on the rear diff. and then the front can be pulled back off the tranny flange.
Assembly is the reverse noting:
1) Put a new gasket on the CV joint where it joins the rear diff. (I repacked my CV joint)
2) Pre-load the center bearing by sliding it 2-4mm toward the tranny before tightening its mounting bolts
3) Be sure to check that the exhaust is not rubbing anything once installed. I had one cat rubbing the heat shield, but this was due to the fact that I split the exhaust and the alignment was off at first.
I might have missed something, so please feel free to chime in.

You may not need to disconnect the rear of the driveshaft. Dropping the center bearing will allow the front/flex disk to be removed without diconnecting the rear. It is a little more difficult working this way (under the car) but you might concider it.

You're going to need to pull the entire ds off to get to the center bearing, which you should definately do while you're down there. When I changed my flex disc last week, the cb was totally destroyed- all the rubber surrounding the bearing itself was ripped clean.
