Just put a brand new set of Balo rotors and Mintex
pads on the front of my 1992 535iA. They stop the car great
but make squeaking noise with low speed braking (5 mph).
I used anti-squeel paste on the pads also. Have never used
mintex pads before. Is this normal? Does this sound go away
when pads set. Have put less than 50 miles on pads.
Also weather has been abot 8-10 degrees F outside
Got the parts from BMA. Thanks for any advice.
give them time to break in, they should quiet down
all america wants is cold beer warm pussy and a place to take a shit with a door on it

First try bedding in the new pads. Click here for Dave Zeckhausen's bedding instructions. If they've already been bedded, it may just be too damn cold out. My Hawk HPS pads are dead quiet unless it's below 20. The colder it gets, the noisier they are. After a couple of stops, they quiet down again.

reapplying more anti-squeel paste might also resolve the problem. I've found that sometimes if you don't put enough of the stuff on, or miss a particular spot, it'll still squeel a bit. More paste = less squeel in my book.
Mintex pads squeal a little bit... at least on my 535i with 850i callipers. But I am very hard on my brakes also.
Still better than the Metal master. But they are as dusty as the ATE, so you should have gotten the slightly more expensive ATE.

they are actually not. That's why I bought them. If you are referring to Master's then ok.
Even if you put a lot of anti-squeal paste, it may still squeal. If you didn't bed them in well, you can try something else. I have found that if you go in and sand the face of the pads and slightly sand the rotor, it helps with noise. I have also found that it can sometimes be difficult to bed the pads initially and the pads become glazed. Sanding the pads is also a good idea if the pads are glazed.
I have found that there isn't a consistency of which pads will squeal and which ones won't at lower speed or going backwards. Even if you do everything you can possibly do they can still squeal. If they brake well...well that is the priority.

I spoke with Yves at BMA today also. He advised me to give
it some time. I have done many brake jobs on BMWs and this was my
first experience with Mintex and a squeal. Yves told me he would swap
the pads for me If squeal does not abate.
Last fall, I put ATE power discs and ATE
pads on my 1990 535iA and they are very quiet.
