    here the news I got:
£18.00 plus £9.00 postage to Sydney for RHD split micro filter
    Author: 530i Posted on: 2009-06-03

OK, the Doctor Car Parts have informed me that a split RHD micro filter (BMW Part Nr. 64318350016) is £18.00 plus £9.00 postage to Sydney, Australia. Exchange rate at the moment is about 49P to our dollar so it works out to be about $55 to $60 AUD. Much better than the Stealer, thanks Shogun.

Those pics are the business.. I was wondering how the black plastic clip was supposed to lock, but that shows it has to go horizontal. Great- wil try.

RHD- 2 piece item- tried BMA, they knew nothing about it, but ill ask again with this part number and po st the result.. Thanks Shogun, and the very honourabloe Prof. Boonchat--- great work indeed.

Saw doctor car parts ebay ad:
    http://cgi.ebay.co.uk/ws/eBayISAPI.d...:X:RTQ:GB:1123
I emailed them and asked if they sold the 2 piece filter. Their response was
    'Dear whiskychaser,
    Hi,
These are the only filters we supply. Sorry.
    Thanks
    - doctor_car'
BMW confirm part 64318350016 is a one piece filter. I have one on order so will see how many parts it is in
Can we clarify who 530i's supplier is?

Have no idea, have never seen a RHD filter.
530i has not yet ordered it from doctor car, that was just the info he got from them I posted before.

I bet he left out all the swear words used when doing the change over.
I've done this twice (so far) and it is NOT an easy thing to do.

The 2 piece filter is typical of how we get screwed-over here in Oz.

I asked him once more and his reply:

That's interesting. The Part Nr. 64318350016 is on my invoice from a BMW dealer and on the packaging for the two piece filter, that I have oddly kept with the old filter

Autohaus AZ quote 64311390836 for the one piece filter.

    From the Doctor;

    Hi,
The postage will be 9.00GBP and is the same filter as the BMW part number you provided.
    Thanks

Picked up the microfilter 64318350016 from the dealer this morning. It looks like a one piece in a plastic frame but the give away is the bar across the centre line. The filter has 'top' marked on it and an arrow showing which way it goes in. But there isnt a nice diagram so it took me a minute or two to work out that the top half slides across to the left. Of course if I had looked at the link Shogun posted I wouldnt have been scratching my head:
    http://www.meeknet.co.uk/E32/Microfilter/Index.htm
There is a stop when its about 3/4 open but if you had it that extended you probably wouldnt get it in the footwell So you put the top section inside the housing and raise it a bit. Then push in the bottom section. Make sure the whole lot is seated towards the back. £24.40 isnt the cheapest but the dealer is only 10 minutes away. Its made a fantastic difference to the air flow so well worth doing!
