youll probably need to lock the flywheel and use a long breaker bar to loosen the center nut (i think thats what your referring to) your using a big 6 point socket?
I got a 93 colt... and the timing belt broke.
I got it all the way tore down... right untill it's time to get the pully of the crankshaft. I cannot get it off for the life of me... tired my impact wrench... tried my pulled.... all I have done now is mess up the pulley some.
Anyone got insight on how to get this stupid thing off before I break something more.
Please let me know if anyone wants pictures or the like.....
Thanks
Charles
If it cannot be fixed by the dremel or ducktape.. get out the sledge...

are you talking about the nut? or are you talking about the actual pully/harmonic balancer. when we just did my friends civic, we dident even have to lock down the pully, we just shocked it with a nice impact, lots of ft/lbs. now if your talking about the pully i would suggest getting som nice anticrosive spray, wd-40, ect, but i think "kroil" is the best stuff you can buy. then spray the area down after you have the bolt out, and that ought to make it alot easier. we had this problem on the same friends 95 lhs, we just had to keep at it, i think we went through 2 pullers, ended up snapping the side of the pully on the off, the little side guide to keep the belt on track, but dident seem to matter, thing ran like a top.
hope i helped a bit
It's the accessory pulley... outside of the timing belt cover…. after doing some more reading it looks like it screws off... I just wanta confirm that before keep on wailing on it like that on… a couple sites talk about how big of a pita it is... I guess I need to get out the pb blaster...

yeah, id say just hit that thing with a real good impact gun. if not go ahead and put 2 socket extensions in those holes, then put a breaker between the two, then hit it and the thing wont spin.
I got a nice dewalt one... all it was doing was shaving the nut...Originally Posted by kyleN20

wait, are you talking electric impact? iv never know those to be very strong, i thought we were talking air tools, and if its chaving it, id doubt you have the right size, you might be using metric when it needs standard, or the oppisot.
Yeah... it only does 345 ft-lbs... It's enough to do alot of things..... I will check the sizing agian... I am almost sure it's SAE....Originally Posted by kyleN20

I just did the timing belt on a Toyota a few weeks ago. I braced the end of the breaker bar up against the frame rail and bumped the starter & the crank bolt spun off just that easy.
