My ignition switch has gone **** up. I have the cylinder out. Has anyone successfully (non-destructively) opened one up to get access to the tumbler innards? According to the ETK, it looks like new switches keyed to the original are NLA & can only get a new switch with a new key which likely won't match the door locks.

That's fantastic Erich -- many thanks!!!
Cheers!

I would check with BMWNA as BMWUK can still supply e34 locks and barrels keyed to the original VIN .

Yes, good news. I went to the dealer today to order a new one, and they assured me that it will be keyed to the original according to the VIN. Good excuse to drive the convertible while waiting on parts:Originally Posted by Omega

Gale, the Alfa is nice. I once also owned one, but with the 1300 cc engine and the colour was white.
