Default vacuum leak? or? VIDEO INSIDE

The little bimmer is coming along nicely. 94 540i, and it's got a rough idle. Not too bad, but seems rough none the less. After a lot of searching on these forums, I'm thinking there's a vaccum leak?

The car has 189K miles on it, and it sat for almost two years, but I'd like some opinions on how it sounds.

It usually starts quicker than in this video... this was after starting it and shutting it off ten times in a half hour.

Patience please, it's a 33MB file, and may take a bit to load. Just over a minute long.

    Quicktime required.

Wow, that took a long time to d/l. I just watched it, and I can't hear a damn thing. I couldn't even hear the whistle. Seemed like a fairly smooth idle to me too, if a little low. What year is the Caddy? 68? I've got a 65 Calais myself.

Wow, I just watched it again, it IS a 68 isn't it? I can tell by the way the fenders are shaped, only the 65, 66, and 68 had stacked headlights.

It's a '67... but you were close. Sedan Deville, 89k ORIGINAL miles, and I love the car, but do to a recent DUI, I'm letting her go. 5 grand is what I need, and that's what I'm selling it for. I can't believe it hasn't sold yet through the two ads I put in the local papers, and an online autotrader ad.

I think it just needs exposure, and right now I'm too scared to drive it around because of all the attention it gets (from the police, also). I can't afford a driving without a licence ticket!

Anyway... it does seem to be idling better. It sat for over a year, I just got it up and running last week, and I've only driven it about 30 miles so far. I think I'll take it for a long highway drive tomorrow and see how it does.

Honestly, don't expect too much for the Caddy, there's not a huge market for them. There's still too many to make them rare, though that may change in another ten years. Parts are a pain in the ass too. All the little trim and everything else...

I'm restoring a 535, and I shudder at the cost of just the chrome on the Caddy. I'm going broke just thinking about putting gas in it.

Vacuum leaks generally result in smoother idle as you rev it up. Hook up a vacuum gauge if you really think you might have a leak.
