Actually, i think the heat is lower with HIDs I have HIDs but no lamin-x.

So as I consider a HID upgrade from H1, I just wonder about the Lamin-X I have put on the projectors. Would it survive?

Do believe that's right. HIR's are very hot (so hot that a set of HIR's on friend's '95 525iT melted the back of the housing off!) and Lamin-X handles them just fine. I've run HIR's & Lamin-X in my lights for 3 years now no prob. Standard halogens aren't as hot as HIR's. Do believe your Lamin-X will be fine with HID's
