    Default An exercise in theory

Yesterday, I was reading through the April issue of Bimmer magazine and came across an article about a supercharged e46 M3. Active Autowerks in Florida has added 80rwhp and like 70rwtq with the addition of a supercharger, intercooler, and ECU work. The addition was so seemless that the new power curve matched the stock curve (except that it was much higher on the graph).

That got me thinking about my 525.

Knowing about stuff like parasidic loss and the cost of a supercharger/intercooler, what else would have to go in order to goose 70-80rwhp out of an M50?

Would the higher compression ratio require low-compression pistons?
New intake manifold? Ported head? Etc...?
