38 mpg is lacklustre??????In the back f the owners manual you will find some consumption figures..i have never been a ble to get near them, but t might give you a comparison....
'lo!
Having recently got a new job, I'm having to do a 50 mile per day round trip... however, the M20 2.5 engine is a thirsty bugger and is ploughing huge furrows in my bank balance (what with fuel costing the equivalent of $5.67 per US gallon).
What sort of fuel consumption could I expect from a 525TDS? The parkers Guide quotes a somewhat lacklustre figure of 38 miles per (imperial) gallon.
I don't wanna have to buy a teenie French hatchback
Cheers!

Gone but not forgotten
My 524TD burns an average of 1 liter pr. 10 km. This is mixed driving, mostly city though. On the German autobahn we measured it to approx. 15 km per liter.
Not bad for a 15 year old car, if you ask me.
Have you ever thought about conversion to LPG?
There are a lot of cars converted, even up to the 7 series, especially in the Netherlands, Germany and Poland

My 520i gives me about 7-8km/liter city driving, about 12km/liter highway.
I wish they'd have retrofit diesel engines for the E34... the new ones with the twin stage turbos!!! OOOooooooooo!!!!
Shogun... is there a way to use LPG on the E34?!?!?! I wouldn't mind if I could retrofit one of the newer enviromentally friendly engines... or reconfigure mine to run off LPG or something.
