Default Outside temperature reading on OBC

Had a strange reading on the OBC yesterday for the outside temperature. It bonked and displaced -26 deg F. I'm in the San Francisco bay area and the temp was 57 F. This has happened one other time. Is this an indication that the temperature sensor is failing? or is it with the OBC? Has anyone experienced this? This a 92 525ia M50. Appreciate any help.

    Thanks in advance,

sometimes water from whatever source can mess it up until it dries, you also might want to check the electrical connections.

The temperature sensor is located behind a panel on the driver side of the front bumper. Remove the panel and the sensor should be sitting behind it, check the connection and make sure the wires aren't stripped.

at the E32 Board http://bmwe32.student.utwente.nl/ and scroll down to "OBC temp at -30" for his fix.
