Have you replaced all the worn parts in your shift linkage yet?

E28 flywheel is a huge improvement i hear. Short Shifter just makes the throws shorter, and a little notchier. UUC kit is good, but expensive. www.understeer.com go there and browse some options.

I've got the UUC kit, and I agree with bimmerd00d..the shifts are quicker and notchier..I spose that would qualify as more racey

If you wanted to go nuts though you could get the UUC kit, upgrade the selector rod, and replace whatever's left

Default Looks like it's time to pull up the old shifter post:

What you mostly need to do is rebuild the worn out parts in the linkage. I have all stock parts and it is perfect - UUC kit would be fine I guess if it's the same cost, but original parts will feel just as good. I also have a z4 shift lever and the throw is very nice. A bit notchy in the morning with cold fluid but not anything you can't get used to. FWIW I also have an e28 flywheel and would never go back to the stock one. Much more responsive throttle now.

This link shows what parts you need to order, and Bentley can walk you through the R&R of the unit.

A moment of slience please for the cherished old board format.
