Default Kuhmo ECSTA 711's - New boots for Sally

Time for a new set of tyres and I'm getting mixed messages on what tyres to go with (in Australia).
Pirelli is a no go due to past bad experience.
    Falken is a possible.

I can get a stunning deal on a set of Kuhmo ECSTA 711's through a work mate.
    Anyone have experience with Kuhmos'?

BTW, Sally is the name given to my car by my 5 year old daughter.
    Cheers,

Default I went with KH11 Kumho for m mercedes and I am happy

    Trevor,

The KH11's are a summer tourig tire and the 711's are a high performance summer tire.

Since I live in a place where it never snows either would be a good choice for me.

I went with the KH11's due to the W speed rating vs H in the 711's and due to fact that the KH11's were tested by the tire rack and they did quite well.

The tire rack has not tested the 711's.

I highly reccomend the KH11's to anyone that needs a tire that will never be driven in snow or mud.

BTW the size that I am running is 225/45 17 (on my mercedes)

    Hope that helps

I have ECSTA ASX all seasons. These are great tires for the money. As good as my michelin pilots, but wear seems better. Literally half the price.

Default Where are you located Paul?

Sounds like you have the same model E34 as me ('89 535ia).
How many KMs/Miles on yours, and what issues have you had so far?
    Cheers,

I have a set of Escta HP4s on my 535i with 0 complaints. Just bought a set of 265/70-16 Kumhos for the 4Runner too. Can't wait to try them out in the snow. The truck not the car. Bargain tires for now but people are catching on.

    Trevor,

My 89 535i has about 230,000 miles or about 370,000 Km

Areas that I have fixed (or had someone fix for me)

Auto transmision @170,000 miles shortly after I bought the car

Drive Shaft (it has been acting up lately I probably need a new center support and some new mounts for the differential)

Thrust arms, lower control arms, tie rods and center link, idler arm

MAF (mine went bad and I bought a rebuild)

Radiator (it actually just needed cleaning but I didn't know)

    Fan clutch

Ignition wires (this chage stopped a problem I was having, the car was stalling)

    Tires several sets

Twisted seat back (fixed for free thanks to this message board)

    Throttle position switch

Brake Booster and brake master cylinder (this one was a bit of over kill not really needed)

    Idel control valve

Several sets of plugs, air filter, oil fuel filter the typical stuff

Check valve for the fuel pump (to solve the hot start problem, almost free from message board as well)

A new fuel pump (the true root cause of many of my cars problems)

Brakes, wear and tear items etc.

I am sure ther are more items but that is what I remember.

    Upgrades

    Bilsteins shocks
    Dinan coil springs
    750 bushings
    Dinan camber plates
    RD sway bars

Things that I need to fix
    Sword
switch for passenger front power seat
    Cable for the crusie control

The answer to your other question is that I live in San Jose, California

If your not familiar with San Jose it is the southern end of the San Francisco Bay.

Good luck with your tire purchase.

    Happy motoring

    Paul

I have 712's on my Mustang.

They're fairly hard, but I'm guessing you won't be doing much drag racing with Sally. They're a little loud when they wear down, but are real quiet new, and handle well. Mine are due for a switching after about 40,000 miles.

I would have put some 711's or 712's on my Wagon, but they didn't come in the size. So I've got some BFG Traction T/A's on it. They've been a great tire. I've got 20k on them and they've got at least that still in them.

I have Michelin Pilot MXMs on my 525i. Had them on my Volvo 850 AWD (OEM) as well and was very satisfied with them. Tread pattern doesn't look much but they certainly handle well - both wet & dry.
