    Default Feels good to DYI!

Changed the oil/filter, figured out how my fog lamp bulbs come out (twist off under the car and think they are H1 bulbs), cleaned my air filter, and added a bit of BMW antifreeze/distilled water. I feel good knowing I did it. Wish I could feel the same about working on my wife's Explorer.
    Thanks,

Default a DIY high...ain't nothing like it!

it is a great feeling of accomplishment and creates an itimate relationship with your car...it also seems to make me more accutely aware of how the car is running or if something doesn't feel quite right.

The e32 is a great luxury sport sedan...great handling, great response, can do the twisties but really is at home on the open road. If you can think of the e32 as an Olympic athlete...the e38 would be that athlete in an Armani suit. It takes the driving impression of the e32 to the next level of refinement and gentility...but the heart of the beast is unleashed at the push of the pedal. The Valvetronic technology (and later VANOS) gives the e38 such a great responsiveness from the engine it's hard to describe. Then add to that...very good fuel consumption for a car this heavy and with 280+ HP. I do all city driving and the fuel consumption for my e38 (M62 V8) is 16.8 MPG....and my e34 Touring (M50 I6) is 17.9 MPG. Now when I take the Touring out on the open road...then the Touring's MPG moves way ahead.

The e38 is a great drivers car...and if you ever get a chance to drive/own a good one...I'm sure you'll fall in love with it.
