Default E34 locks nothing working (help )

    Hi
just singed up to the site
seems the locking system on this cars are a weak point
my locking system on my 89 535
    is dead.
nothing works passenger or driver side.
Not even manual mode is there a manual mode I dont even know
    trunk lock doesnt even work
    nothing
do they just get full of dirt or rust.
or did my locking system have a melt down , probably did with my luck.
Is there a main relay or somthing.
    any info appreciated
its a little late but happy new year

    Default fuseable link "B"

Note that this pic is from an E32, but should help you.

'fuseable link B' has popped maybe, if it has, these things won't work:

    Alarm (factory fit)
    Central locking
    Washer pump
    Windscreen wipers
    Radio
    Interior lights
    Radio
    Rear de-mister

    Thanks for the reply shogun

everything else is working exept everything that has to with
    the locking system.
It all worked before I parked the car for a good parts of the year. about 8
    months
when I got back I couldnt even get in the car
I had to get my brother to crawl through the ski bag opening and unlock
the doors. I guess theres no manual mode like the e28
Im guessing that this is not an easy fix
other than that car runs great
    thanks again for the reply

Default My experience is that the tiny motor contacts ...

inside the lock/unlock mudule inside door panels get rusted over extended periods of not operation. Normally, if not severe, they start working once I hit the road, some bumps and shake do the miracle. I had once though, to open one of them.

    Thanks javier
The miracle bump fix hasnt worked its magic yet too bad.
I think I have no choice Im going to start removing the door panels tomorow I dont even know what to look for hopefully I see something
If all that works out I have the joy of trying to get my wipers to stop banging the hood.
If theres any other suggestion please let me know
    thanks again

    Default check item by item

Remove the door panels. Check if there is power or not on the lock mechanism.
Check fuses and relays related to these functions.
    Wiring diagrams are here.

    click

In my opinion it will not be a single motor, but a major item like fuses, relay(s), or even the GM, as all are not working.

If you find out something, let us know the details to go to the next step, if help is required.

    Good Luck

For the wipers banging the hood, you can try searching the forum for "wiper" related posts. I think there was one recently that dealt with that issue. Fixes range from different wiper arms, filing the arm for clearance, and "bending" the middle of the hood by the wipers up a bit to get the clearance back. Apparently the hoods tend to sag in the middle causing the wipers to hit it.
    good luck,
    Jon
