you just need the hardwear and wiring from the donor car, should be a bolt in swap with no voodoo required. the engine compartments are generally the same from the firewall forward
hi everyone i just joined today does anyone know how much work is involved in converting a 318i to a 2.0 litre straight six i need more power

all america wants is cold beer warm cat and a place to take a poop with a door on it
If you are going to do a swap to a six, you should go ahead and procure a 2.5L motor. Same amount of work and you will get significantly more power.
would a 2.8L fit in a 318 body
which chassis are we talking about here?
** just got back from the E90 launch here in the Phil. Nice car... funny looking grille... bigger... about the same size as the E34/E39 (about 3-4 inches shorter I think) Huge trunk. Would probably get a 2nd hand E46 M3 over the E90 330i sport though... they cost about the same.

Engine fits... but you'll have to replace all front suspension components.
