    Default Tomorrow I Will Know If M30 Engine Works With M20 Computer And Harnes Wire

    Hi all, this is Franciscco, and i have a 535i 1989 that i blow the engine . I just put in my 525i body(m20 original) a 535 1989 (m30 engine) and i going to see if it going to work with the original 525i 1989 computer and harnes wire. If it not, i will get the harnes and coputer from 535(m30) . Any advice? feel free to email me at .www.areito5@hotmail.com

    I must admit I am a novice when it comes to these matters, but I'd be willing to wager it will not work. Good luck.

    i don't see why it wouldn't work if you can get all of the important wires hooked up as both motor run basicly the same sensors, it may take the computer a little while to adjust for the extra liter of displacement. i've been tossing around the idea of adapting a m50 harness to my m20 325is for the later style injection system

    Airflow meter, idle contol valve, throttle position switch are all different from m20 to m30, don't know how different the respective values are. M20 also has way different ignition & fuel injector timing. I would be very surprised if it starts and runs decent. Best of luck !

    thanks for the info. but the transmission it the problem now. Its to small to fit the m30 engine.

    Swapped the M30 computer on the M20 and it worked perfectly....
    Same numbers on teh computer.

    Did you ever get this project to work out?
    Was the whole tranny a problem or just the bellhousing like people suggested to me?
