Default Auto Shifter selector trim - should numbers light up?

    Hi guys,
should the Auto Shifter selector trim with numbers on light up?
the switch next to it does.
on mine the numbers are painted white.
can i fit one from a higher spec model that lights up???
is there any models that have this E32 even?

    Thanks in advance, Matt.

It should, at least it does on my 93 525ia. There's a small bulb under there that may be burnt out.... or dicsonnected.... - , ROb.

i think he was thinking the panel around the shifter, not the dash... or i might be wrong assuming that no e34 has light up numbers since all of the 10 or so i've been in didnt... and i've been in all of them from 89 to 94

    Default if there's dots yes...no dots...no light

so many poster neglect to post what year their e34 is...and it makes it difficult to answer some questions because some features are year specific. The early e34/e32 did not have lights on or next to the PRND321/PRND432 (only the instrument cluster display)...later model e34/e32 do have a lighted dot next to the alpha/numeric characters. My 95 525iT has the lighted dots to the right of the PRND321 (see 1st pic below) they're kinda hard to see in the pic...but my 91 735iL did not light up and had no dots (see 2nd pic below)

    My 91 735iL w/non-lit PRND321...
