Default Electric rear blind - upgrade?

    Hi,
anyone know if the manual rear blind on the 535i can be upgraded to electric one and what is involved in the conversion?

    Thanks Matt.

Quite difficult but not impossible. But you need a wire loom and a switch to the front, and a lot of other things. Might be cheaper and less throublesome if you install a new or used second hand one.
The gear however makes a lot of trouble. Get's worn. Sometimes on Ebay offer replacements made of steel (DIY ones), which cost abt. 40 $. Original gear is made of plastic and not available as single item.

On my page there is a link to Evansweb where such a repair is described. I would stick to the manual one. Actually I use it very seldom.

Default Coincidence? I just looked into a manual rear sunshade...

a few days ago. I obtained a part number and could've gotten one for $259 but looking into this a bit more I found out that the sunshade has been discontinued despite the listing of this thing by many bimmer auto parts stores like BMA. Also, had the sunshade been available, it would've been available in one color--silver. I orded a cheap aftermarket black one, and will be arriving shortly. I'll try to post pics later after installation.

Here is a site I got from Patrick (I think) a while back of some excerpts of people who have toyed with the idea of installing a rear sunshade.
