    Default Strong Fuel Odor

Now that cooler weather is nearing I have noticed a rather strong fuel smell in the cabin when the temp gets fairly cool - say below 50F ? Also when the car is parked I can smell the same strong odor. Only happens whens it is cold outside.

Besides moving to Florida any other ideas??

Default Search the archives for a fuel hose leak.

This may help a little: Somewhere in the vague recesses of my mind, I recall a common fuel leak on the rear of the fuel rail. That could be it, or a o-ring somewhere is old and shrunken. Archives should have something.

In my 535i the fuel odor was due to cracked fuel injector, one of the main injectors hidden under the manifold where it's hard to see. For some reason it was only noticeable in cool weather, maybe because the heater sucked in some fumes.
