With your guys help i finally got the stomp test to work on my 94 530I, and i got code 1222. I searched the forum and I found this code means O2 sensor regulation, what the heck does that mean. please help me figure out what to do first. should I just order some O2 sensors?

P.S. just to make sure i read the code right, you just cunt the amount of tims the check engine light flashes, then eash 2sec or so pos means your on the next number right. also code 1222 didnt stop flashing, is this suppose to happen?

I couldnt find any info on that webite. Should I start off by looking for any vaccume leaks, or just replace the O2 sensors. Also can anyone give a good discription on how and where to look for any vaccume leaks, baecause iam not that mechanicle. And one last question you guys, what does it mean when the code just keeps repeating itself?

    Thanks alot,

    Greg.

    Diagnosing Problems With Codes

You can diagnose your cars Check Engine Light codes yourself in 2 minutes without any tools! Follow the steps below, and then refer to the table for the fault codes and their related problem(s). If your code is not listed here, E-mail me and I'll try to get you the code you need.
    1. Turn the key to the 'on' position (don't start the car) where everything lights up.
    2. Press the gas pedal all the way to the floor 5 consecutive times within 5 seconds total.
    3. The red Check Engine light will come on solid at first, and then it will begin flashing the code(s). The codes are 4 digits and the light will flash, say 2 times quickly, to represent a number 2. Each set of quick flashes will be separated by a brief pause. If there is more than one code, they will be separated by a 2.5 second pause.
    Fault Code Table:
    1444- NO Faults found
    1211 - Faulty DME (computer)
    1215 - Mass air-flow sensor problem
    1216 - Throttle potentiometer problem
1221 - Oxygen Sensor bad 1222 - rich/lean air-fuel mixture, check for air/vacuum leaks AND check Crank Position Sensor for proper gap (.04in +/-.01) and clean it thoroughly!
1223 - Coolant temp. sensor problem
1224 - Air temp. sensor problem
1231 - Battery voltage monitor, test charging system & starter
1232 - Idle position (closed throttle) problem, test throttle position sensor
1233 - Idle position (full open throttle) problem, test throttle position sensor
    1251 - Fuel injectors cylinders 1,3,5
    1252 - Fuel injectors cylinders 2,4,6
1261 - Fuel pump control relay or circuit
1262 - Idle speed control valve problem
1263 - Fuel tank EVAP purge valve bad
1264 - Oxygen sensor heater bad

Default also check this for 1222 error

i have a 90 525i m20 motor...and i have an exaust leak before my oxy sensor....so the sensor isnt getting the right reading. and yes mine also says the error code of 1222 over and over... so that's normal. if you had an intake leak your motor probably wouldn't be running so good because unmeasured air would be getting in and screwing things up . sooo check your exaust. and check your oxy sensor.. peace JAMES
