I'm in Portland, but can't really recommend anyone, as I've done my own repairs so far except for the transmission rebuild (which was not a BMW shop). But there are a bunch of indies listed in the Yellow Pages. Sorry I can't do better.

There is a local BMW club, might be worth asking their members?

I used to live in Portland and there was a very strong chapter of BMWACA (Automobile Club of America) not BMWCCA. In that group ther were several indies as members. Their web site is http://www.bmwacaportland.com. I'd try them instead of Puget Sound which is several hundred miles away.

    Good luck.

Carroll's Import Auto... he's thorough and he'll bring you into the shop to show you what he's doing. He'll also talk your ear off, but he's a good guy. He's done the major work on our 535i and 525iT (sent me about 2MB of digital photos of my head/block/pistons before and after he cleaned them up). Not cheap, but he doesn't have to be. At the very end of Hall St. in Tigard (address is technically Portland, but it's Tigard ;-). Tell your buddy to tell him Peter Warton sent him...
